What TypingHub is

2 min read Updated Sept. 2026
Where to find it
Dashboard > Type Open it

TypingHub is where a student learns to type properly. Open it from the Type pill in the top navigation. It is open to every signed in account: there is no bundle, year level or enrolment needed, so any student can start today.

It needs a real keyboard

TypingHub is for a laptop or a desktop. On a phone or a tablet with no keyboard it shows a card reading that TypingHub needs a computer keyboard, and offers a link back to the dashboard. That is the one restriction on it.

What is inside

The screen a student lands on is the typing test itself, with a row of setting pills above the words. Three buttons under the typing area lead to the rest:

  • Battle, a live race against other students.
  • Learning pathway, a structured course through a vocabulary list, one word at a time.
  • Leaderboard, the ranked boards for each kind of test.

Settings

The Settings panel, opened from the top bar, holds the caret style, whether live statistics show while typing, the key sounds, the theme and what the page opens with. There is also a Sounds toggle and a theme toggle in the top bar itself.

XP

TypingHub pays XP into the same total as the rest of the site. Beating a personal best on a board, mastering a pathway word and winning a Battle each earn some, and the amount shown in the celebration is what actually landed, so a student who has already reached the day's XP ceiling is not shown XP they did not get.

Getting faster

The honest advice, and the one most students resist: slow down until accuracy is high, and speed follows. A fast run full of corrections scores worse than a steady clean one.
