To put maths in a message to Testy, type it between dollar signs. A fraction written as $\frac{3}{4}$ turns into a proper three quarters right in the message box as you type, and goes to Testy that way. The round bracket form, \(x + 2\), works as well.
Writing maths in the box
- Maths shows properly as soon as the closing dollar sign is typed. Click or move into it and the typed form shows again, so it can be fixed.
- The f(x) button beside the box opens a maths keypad. What is built there is put into the message at the cursor, between dollar signs. Closing the keypad and opening it again keeps what was half written.
- Testy's replies show maths properly too.
Sending, new lines and stopping
- Enter sends the message. Shift and Enter together add a new line.
- The box grows as more is typed, up to a limit, and scrolls after that.
- An unsent message is kept for each conversation, so going to another page and coming back does not lose it.
- While Testy is replying, the send button turns into Stop. Pressing it ends the reply on screen. Anything Testy had already started, such as marking a piece, may still finish.
The same box in the corner of a page
Testy in the corner of a page uses the same message box, with the same f(x) button, dollar signs, Enter and Stop.
