A student who is stuck on a practice question can share it into Discuss, the channel for talking questions through together. Anyone who can see Discuss can open the question as it looks in the test, with the answer hidden until they choose to see it.
Sharing a question
- Bookmark the question first: while reviewing a marked test, or in LearningHub.
- In any channel, type /share (or press the / button and choose it). The picker has two tabs, Test bookmarks and LearningHub bookmarks, and a search box.
- Pick the question and, if you like, add a comment saying what you are stuck on.
- Share it. It always posts in Discuss, whichever channel you typed in, and the forum takes you there.
A question from a test that is still in progress cannot be shared; the picker shows Finish the test first. There is a daily limit on shares for each student, and the picker says when none are left.
Opening a shared question
Each shared question appears as a card labelled with its subject, such as Maths with its topic, or Reading with its question type. Opening it shows the question in the real test layout, read only, with nothing to answer. The correct answer and the explanation stay hidden until you press Reveal answer, and Hide answer puts them away again.
The answer the sharer chose is never shown, so nobody's mistake is on display. The question stays on white paper, as in the test, even in the dark theme.
Talking it through
Each shared question has its own thread, shown as Discussion beside the question. Explaining how you would solve it is the point; giving away the letter is not.
Who can see it
Discuss is open to everyone on the forum, like Social, and messages there pass the same automatic check before anyone else sees them. A question that has since been removed from its test shows This question is no longer available.
