Selective test readiness check 2027: 12 free questions in 10 minutes
Twelve questions in the Selective test format, four each from Mathematical Reasoning, Thinking Skills and Reading, with ten minutes on the clock. Your child answers on the same screen layout our students use for full papers, with no account and no name. When the time is up you see every answer against the key, sorted from the easier questions to the hard ones, so you can see which tier the marks slipped in. It is a quick read of where the gap is, not a ranking. For a ranking, sit Set 01 online free and put the marks into the score calculator.
The Selective check is nearly ready
Our tutors are still choosing and checking its twelve questions, and we would rather open it complete than open it early. Until then, the most useful thing to sit is the real length: Set 01, free online, marked for you, with a worked solution for every question.
Questions families ask
How much can twelve questions tell us?
Enough to show where the gap is, not enough to rank a child. Each question sits in one of three tiers, from the ones nearly every prepared student gets right to the ones that separate the strongest, and the result shows which tier the marks slipped in. It gives no percentile, no band and no school, because twelve questions cannot carry that weight. For a ranking, sit the full Set 01 papers and put the marks into the score calculator.
Why only ten minutes?
The Selective test gives 40 minutes for 35 Mathematical Reasoning questions and 40 minutes for 40 Thinking Skills questions, roughly a minute each. Twelve questions in ten minutes is a little quicker than that, which is deliberate: it shows whether a child can keep getting answers right while working briskly. If time runs out, the answers given so far are marked.
Are these real test questions?
They are written by Test Academy in the Selective test format and shown on the same screen layout our students use for full papers. They are not Department questions, and none of them comes from the free Set 01 or Set 02 papers.
Does my child need an account?
No. There is no sign-up and we never ask for your child's name. If you want the report by email, you give us your email address on the result page.
What happens to the answers?
We keep the answers, the time taken and, if you choose one, the school year, so the result link works. Without an email address we delete the attempt after 90 days. Date reminders are a separate box, unticked, and start only after you confirm them from your inbox.
What should we do after the check?
Go through every question you got wrong with its worked solution on the result page, starting with the easiest tier. Then sit a full timed paper: it tests pace over forty minutes, which a short check cannot.
