The guided tour is a step by step walk through of the site. It spotlights one thing at a time, explains it in Testy's voice, and moves between pages as it goes, so by the end the student has seen where everything lives.
Starting it
It never starts by itself. There are two ways in:
- Ask Testy. On the dashboard the dock offers Show me around, and asking him to show you around in your own words does the same thing.
- Press the Tutorial button in the dashboard navigation, which is there to replay it.
Moving through it
Each card is labelled with the step it is on and carries Back, Next and Skip. The last step's button reads Finish. Pressing Skip asks to confirm first, and says how to start the tour again.
What it covers
The quick actions, XP and rewards, the Help Centre and support, the dashboard tabs, the study planner, the account tools, Testy on the home page and Testy Coach, Learn, Practice with Take Tests, Results and Review and Bookmarks, Performance with preference schools and skills, the Leaderboard, and ACST. Class students also get Classwork and Enrolments.
It follows the account
Steps for features an account does not have are left out rather than shown and explained away, so two students can see two different length tours. A tour left part way through picks up where it stopped.
A different thing from the Getting started list
The tour shows where things are. The Getting started list inside the Testy dock tracks what has actually been done. They are separate, and both can be dismissed.
