The forum is a moderated study room inside Test Academy. Students ask what they are stuck on and get a worked answer back from a Test Academy teacher, and each class has a private room with its own teacher. Open it from the Forum pill at the top of the dashboard.
Asking a question
Ask a Question opens the form. Give it a title, pick a topic and a year group, and write the question. The toolbar has buttons for emoji, for maths and for adding an image, so a diagram or a photographed working can go in. Press Post Question.
When a reply solves it, the person who asked marks it with Mark as Answer. That reply is then badged Best Answer, the thread is badged Solved, and the person who wrote the answer earns XP. There is a limit on how many questions one account may post in a day, and the button says so when it is reached.
The rooms
- Q&A is where questions and answers live, and it can be filtered to Unsolved or Solved.
- Announcements carries notices from Test Academy.
- Your Courses lists a private chat room for each class, term by term, with the teacher in it. Images and PDFs can be attached in these.
- The social room and the Battle room are for chat, and there is a Teachers list for messaging a teacher directly.
Everything is checked
Every message is read by an automatic moderator before anyone else sees it. A message held for checking shows as awaiting approval to the person who wrote it, and one that is not posted comes back with a note asking them to reword it. Test Academy staff read the rooms as well, and any message can be reported from its menu.
Chat messages are short
The chat composer has a character limit, with a counter under the box that turns amber as it runs low and stops typing at the limit. Announcements and direct messages are not capped. It is a chat room, not an essay.
Being told about replies
Replies, mentions and best answers appear on the bell on the Forum pill, under Mentions, Replies and Channels. Forum activity is not emailed.
