Open the Testy dock on a fresh conversation and a small card headed Getting started sits above the message box, with a count on the right of how many items are left. It is a short list of the first things worth doing on the account.
The items tick themselves
Nothing on the list is ticked by hand. Each row is checked against what has actually happened on the account every time the panel opens, so an item goes through the moment the thing is genuinely done: a test sat, a paper reviewed, homework submitted, a session booked. A finished item stays on the list with a line through it rather than disappearing.
Hiding it
A single row can be hidden, and the whole card can be closed. The card also goes away as soon as a conversation starts, so it never sits between the student and their question.
The list fits the account
Different families get different lists, because the first useful steps are not the same for everyone. For example:
- A student with no bundle yet is pointed at a LearningHub question, a practice test, reviewing that test and the bundles page.
- A bundle holder is pointed at sitting and reviewing a first test, then LearningHub, writing and typing.
- A class student is pointed at finding classwork and homework, submitting homework and reviewing a first test.
- A family with a trial booked is pointed at the trial class itself, and then at enrolling for the term.
- A FlexiClass family is pointed at booking a first session, going to it, finishing the homework and reading the tutor's feedback.
Items for features an account does not have are left off entirely.
It is not the tour
The guided tour shows where things are. This list tracks what has been done. Neither one is required, and dismissing either changes nothing about the account.
