A Battle is a live typing race against other real students, on the same words at the same time. There are no computer opponents. Open it from the Battle button under the typing area.
Joining a race
Students join lobbies rather than creating them. The Lobbies card lists the rooms open right now with who is in them and how many seats are left. Press Join on one, then Ready up. The race starts once enough players are in and everyone is ready. A lobby card posted in the Battle chat is also a way in.
During the race
A countdown runs, then a wheel picks the mode and its setting, so nobody chooses the words. The typing screen takes over, with the other players' names riding above the words at their real position. Leaving part way through counts as a loss, and the screen warns before it lets that happen.
After the race
A rating sequence plays, showing how the result moved the rating up or down, then a Last race card lists everyone with their place, speed, accuracy and rating change. The lobby stays open for a rematch.
Rating and tiers
Every student carries a rating that rises when they win and falls when they lose, and a tier name that comes with it, climbing from Rookie up to Legend. Wins, races, streak, best streak and peak rating are all shown on the rating card. The Top Battlers card ranks the highest rated students, and Your races keeps the recent ones with the full table behind each.
Battle chat
A moderated chat runs down the side of the Battle screen, headed Battle chat. Everyone racing can see it. It is the same room used by Battle in LearningHub, and every message is screened before anyone else sees it.
Boards
Battle results are their own thing. They feed the rating and the Top Battlers card, not the typing speed leaderboards.
