Each tutor sets their own hourly rate per track, so the price a family sees depends on the tutor and on whether the student is on the specialist or general track. In person and online cost the same with the same tutor.
Longer sessions
The first hour of a session is the tutor's full rate. Every extra hour in the same session, up to the three-hour limit, costs a little less than the hour before it, so a three-hour session with one tutor costs less per hour on average than three separate one-hour sessions would. The When step on the booking page shows each hour's price as it is chosen, and the running total, so the exact figures for that tutor are always on screen before paying.
Booking more than one session
Using Add another session to book a second or third session with the same tutor in the one checkout takes a flat amount off the total for each session beyond the first. The discount applies once the checkout actually has more than one session in it, and is shown on screen as the cart builds.
Where the total comes from
The price shown on the When and Pay steps is always calculated fresh from the tutor's current rate at the moment of booking, never carried over from an earlier visit or a different tutor. The order confirmation email states the amount actually paid for the record.
