The Focus step of booking is where a family tells the tutor what the session should be spent on. It is not compulsory: a tutor can still run a useful session from the student's own history alone, but a few minutes here helps the tutor plan.
Specialist track (OC and Selective)
Three guided goals are offered: Test review to go back over a recent practice test and fix mistakes, Revise or learn skills to work on particular skills, and Strategies for question types to learn the approach for a kind of question. Choosing a goal opens its own picker: a past test attempt, a LearningHub skill, or a question type to focus on.
General track
Families on the general track pick straight from a searchable list of skills by subject, with skills close to recent trouble spots suggested first.
A note for the tutor
Either track also has a short free-text note for anything a goal picker does not cover. Tutors tend to cover two or three focus areas well in an hour, so picking a small, clear set works better than a long list.
Changing it later
Once a session is booked, its focus can still be edited from the Edit focus button on the next session card, right up until the session actually starts. After that it is fixed for the tutor to work from on the day.
