Booklet homework is handed in as photographs of the completed pages. We turn them into one document, and the student then marks it themselves. The upload starts from either the Homework Due card on your Classroom page or the Upload button on the Homework page.
Starting from a phone
On a computer the card shows a QR code headed Scan to upload. Point a phone camera at it and the phone opens the upload straight away, even if nobody is signed in on that phone. The link is short lived, so if it has gone stale simply reload the page and use the fresh code. Continue on this device does the same job without the phone.
The steps
- Confirm: check it is the right lesson.
- Photograph each page: take or choose a photo of every completed page. Several at once is fine.
- Check and reorder: drag the pages into the right order and remove any that came out badly, then Submit homework.
- We assemble the pages into one document. This usually takes well under a minute, and the screen updates by itself.
Photos need to be JPG, PNG or HEIC, which is what a phone camera produces. If a file is too large or is not an image, the page says so and nothing is sent until it is fixed.
Attaching a PDF instead
On a tablet or a computer there is an Attach a PDF instead option for families who scan the booklet or work on it digitally. Attach one PDF holding the whole booklet. Photos and a PDF are alternatives, so choosing one clears the other, and the PDF must not be password protected.
After the upload
The card turns to Mark now, which opens the self marking page with the worked answers beside it. Marking is what completes the homework and awards the XP, so an upload on its own still counts as outstanding. See Marking your own homework.
Uploading again replaces what was there before, which is what the Upload again button does after a failed assembly. Handing the work in before the next lesson earns the full XP, and later uploads earn a reduced amount but are still accepted, including for a term that has already finished.
