Each lesson works from a booklet. When one has been uploaded for a session, the session card on your Classroom page carries a Booklet button, and selecting it opens a short list of everything you can do with that booklet.
The options
- Open booklet: read and write on your own copy on screen.
- Homework pages: just the homework part, rather than the whole booklet.
- Class Booklet Answers: worked answers to the questions done in class, covered in Class booklet answers.
- Download my copy: a PDF of the booklet with your own annotations on it.
Some options depend on how the student takes the class. Students in online classes get the downloads, since there is no printed copy in front of them. Anything not available is still listed, greyed out, with the reason under it, so nothing simply disappears.
Writing on it
The on screen booklet has a toolbar across the top with a Pen, a Highlighter, a Text box, an Eraser, a Laser pointer for pointing at something without leaving a mark, and a Pan mode for moving the page around without drawing. There are undo and redo, zoom, a page box you can type a page number into, and a full screen button.
Choosing the pen or the highlighter a second time opens its colours and thicknesses. Work saves as you go, and the toolbar shows Saved when it has.
The text tool
Select Text box, tap where the note should start, and type. Text wraps at the edge of the page and Enter starts a new line. Maths written between dollar signs is rendered as maths. Notes come in black, blue or red, and the eraser removes a whole text box at once rather than a letter at a time.
On a tablet
The booklet is built for a stylus and works well on an iPad. Pan mode is the one to use when scrolling with a finger, so a stray touch does not leave a line across the page.
