Joining an online class

An online class runs in a Google Meet room that belongs to that class for the whole term, so the link never changes from week to week. You join it from the Join Online Class button on the session card on your Classroom page.

Joining

  1. Sign in and open Home from the top menu.
  2. Find the session in the Upcoming list. The button lights up shortly before the class starts, and the card shows Starting soon, then On now.
  3. Select Join Online Class. It opens in a new tab.
  4. Ask to join. The teacher lets you in, so it is worth arriving a few minutes early.

You do not need a Google account to join. The same link is also on your Enrolments page, beside the class in Your Class Schedule.

In the room

The teacher runs the room. Students can use the chat, but sharing your screen is kept to the teacher, so if you need to show your working, say so and the teacher will sort it out. Everything else, the booklet and the homework, still happens on the Test Academy site in another tab.

If there is no Join button

  • Check you are looking at an upcoming session. Past sessions lose their actions.
  • A class held at a centre has no link at all, and shows the venue instead.
  • If the class is online and the button is missing, the room may not be ready yet. Contact the team rather than borrowing a link from another class, because each class has its own room.

A free trial booking shows the same button when the trial class is online.
